Module 4: Unit 3: Core Content: Part 1: Restful Sleep
Sleep is a cornerstone of good health. Restful and restorative sleep is integral to any healing and rejuvenation process.
It’s important for you to explain to your clients that while their conscious self may be taking a break, the body is kicking into healing mode to clean all the normal debris and toxicity accumulated during a normal day. When the body spends more time in peaceful slumber, it has more time to catch up on cleaning and repair. When your clients get less than the full 8 – 10 hours of sleep on a regular basis, the repair and detoxification processes don’t take place efficiently, hormones (like leptin, ghrelin, growth hormone and the sex hormones) suffer, appetite increases, and insulin resistance develops, even if they are eating a low glycemic, clean diet.
Your goal will be to help your clients gradually improve their sleep routine. The resources provided in the Rest Pillar pages can help you do that.
