Over 80 million Americans suffer from insulin resistance, also known as “syndrome X,” which means the cells in their bodies fail to respond to the normal actions of the hormone insulin. Those with insulin resistance often suffer from the “not so sweet” consequences of belly fat, brain fog, burn out, and blood sugar imbalance — a syndrome I call “B4.

Once your clients can learn how to prepare insulin-friendly recipes for balancing your blood sugar, they can enjoy the much sweeter benefits of a trim waistline, soaring energy, and a sharp mind.

We have a whole program, Sweet Spot Solution, devoted to blood sugar balance. Included below are some guidelines to get clients ready for the full program.

Action Plan

#1: Access the Sweet Spot Solution 30-Day Metabolic Reset Kit including menu plans, recipes, and video guidelines.

Sweet Spot Solution 30-Day Metabolic Reset Kit: Find menus, recipes, and guidelines on how to eat for blood sugar balance.  The video on this page is a great overview.  These will help you more easily create a plan for your clients.

#2: Experiment with and ADD foods and herbs to your diet that help restore insulin sensitivity and balance blood sugar.

Your clients will enjoy more emotional success if you turn their attention to the new foods that will HELP them, rather than thinking about foods that aren’t serving their best health. Start to get creative with them, and show them how they can incorporate some of the powerful foods that repair insulin sensitivity and calm inflammation.

There are several documents below containing lists of helpful foods and descriptions. You don’t have to try ALL of these. Just choose a few to get started on. The recipes in the Sweet Spot Solution Recipe Collection incorporate lots of these foods.

Most importantly — see the joy! Don’t have your clients feel forced to eat foods that are unpalatable. Have them try new foods until they discover the ones that they do enjoy. And above all, have fun with all of this.

Resources of Foods to Add:

Foods That Improve Insulin Sensitivity: There are many foods that can actually repair and restore your cells’ sensitivity to insulin. Have your clients add some to their diet each day.

Chia Seed Nutrition Chart: When chia seeds are mixed with water, they form a gelatinous substance that makes it harder for carbohydrates to be digested — which in turn slows down the process of transforming carbs into starch and ultimately sugar. Thus, chia seeds are perfect for helping diabetics and insulin resistant people to manage their blood sugars. See why this seed is such a powerhouse!

Herbs Reported to Restore Insulin Sensitivity: Learn how to have your clients incorporate culinary herbs and medicinal herbs, as appropriate, to restore theirr cells’ sensitivity to insulin.

You’ll find ideas and resources for the foods to add in this document.

Creating a Healing KitchenCreating a Healing Kitchen: This document contains some of the recommended brands, products, and equipment you’ll find named or suggested in my various programs and recipe collections. I look for high quality foods and supplements that will support the healing process while satisfying tastes and nutrition. It also contains a shopping list to help you begin your Vibrant Living shopping.

#3: Discontinue the use of and REMOVE processed foods, high-glycemic foods, and the top 6 allergenic foods from your diet.

Once you’ve gotten comfortable with foods that help you restore insulin sensitivity, you’ll be able to show your clients how to have less cravings for those foods that are contributing to the blood sugar roller coaster that drains your energy and adds to your waistline.

Begin with the removal of processed, high-glycemic, and allergenic foods using a gradual process or by going cold turkey. As long as your clients are ready to be completely off them by Day 1 of a 30 day-metabolic reset in the blood sugar balancing program, Sweet Spot Solution, they’re in good shape. Your clients may notice some withdrawal symptoms, like headaches, cravings, or feelings of low energy. Be there for them as they hang in there. These symptoms generally only last a few days.

Processed/High-Glycemic Foods to Avoid:

  • Sugar and all relatives
  • Alcohol
  • High sugar fruits (bananas, mangoes, papaya, etc.)
  • Dried fruit
  • Fruit juice
  • Grains (all kinds)
  • Potatoes
  • Heated oils, trans fats, margarine
  • Coffee
  • Legumes (may be acceptable if tested and found not to raise blood sugar)

Top 6 Allergens to Avoid:

  • Gluten
  • Dairy
  • Corn
  • Soy

  • Peanuts

Use the document below to help create an elimination plan for your clients. By making a plan and tracking the dates, you will be more likely to help them succeed in the goals you created together.
