Module 2: Cellular Metabolism, Mitochondria and Energy Production
Learning Objectives
1 | Confirm and check as complete if you've read and understood objectives. |
As you work through the materials, your goals by the end will be to:
- Become familiar with the parts of the cell
- Understand how the cell membrane works and why it’s important
- Explain to clients what affects their energy levels and how they can improve energy
- Explain in client terms what mitochondria are and how to properly nourish and care for them
- Understand the Kreb’s cycle for energy production and which nutrients are important for its optimal function
- Be familiar with the parts of the mitochondria and their importance in energy production
- Understand cellular respiration and the 3 stages of energy production
- Explain what ATP is and to list the major nutrients involved in ATP production
- Explain how to protect mitochondria through diet and lifestyle choices
- Understand the role of oxidation and free radical damage on cellular energy
- Be familiar with the fatty acid cascade that controls inflammation and understand the importance of balance for proper and efficient mitochondrial function
