Amla for Cardiovascular Health
A recent study compared Amla supplementation with statins in a group of 60 people of both sexes with plasma total cholesterol more than 240 and LDL greater than 130.
Amla performed as well or better than the statin drug.
The dose administered of Amla was 500 mg per day.
Treatment with both Amla and the statin drug produced significant reduction of total cholesterol, LDL, triglyceride, and VLDL, and a significant increase in HDL.
Both produced significant reduction in blood pressure, more markedly in Amla patients.
With this in mind, Amla seems a more reliable and safe substitute for statins, and for other natural statins like red yeast rice.
